As big as the city of the Vatican, this visit appears as an open air museum. In 1804, the decision to transfer the cemeteries outside Paris was taken. The estern cemetery is the first to be created. From Jim Morrisson’s tomb to Edith Piaf’s or Modigliani, the Pere Lachaise became the « place » to be burried since Moliere and La fontaine were placed there, in 1817.
