Charles Garnier, a young and unknown architect succeded to build one the largest operas of the world during the mid XIXth century, despite his lack of experience. A real prowess ! It houses a great hall, a ball room and a Chagall’s painting on the ceiling of the stage. The opera Garnier is the jewel of Napoleon the IIIrd’s style, built for a woman, Napoleon the IIIrd’s wife : Eugénie.
